HONORING BLACK ECONOMIC freedom
Thursday, June 19 2025
9AM PDT
Meet us on The Yard for Seattle Juneteenth CommUnity Celebration honoring Black economic freedom, creativity, innovation, and culture.

MEET US AT THE UNION & ON THE YARD
Join us Downtown Seattle on Juneteenth for an HBCU themed Block Party called The Yard hosted by The Union and powered by PACE.
HBCU alums know The Union as the indoor gathering space & The Yard as the open, central green‑space (or plaza) that functions as the campus’s heartbeat and cultural stage. Meet us on The Yard!
THE UNION: Where We create
HBCUs were founded to educate a population of people intentionally overlooked. The Union is a place at HBCUs that functions as the community indoor gathering space where people meet, relax, study, debate, ideate and create.
More than a one stop shop, The Union is a cultural hub and organizing nerve-center for HBCUs. The place where community, commerce, creativity, & culture come together in Downtown Seattle.
As working professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives, The Union located downtown Seattle offers the same purpose driven gathering space to support the next stages of growth and development. While many were focused on fighting for a “seat at the table,” we decided to build a table.
THE YARD: WHERE We CONNECT
At an HBCU The Yard is the open, central green‑space (or plaza) that functions as the cultural stage. It's where communities socialize and connect.
We are bringing that HBCU energy to Seattle. So come on downtown and meet us at The Union & on The Yard!
ACTIVATING THE YARD
On Thursday Juneteenth 2025, we activate “The Yard”, blending the vibe of an HBCU-style homecoming with an Urban Block Party.

CELEBRATING WINS & IMPACT
PACE, a 501c3 nonprofit, was established in 2015. The Union, a PACE program, launched on Juneteenth 2018 as an African-centered education & innovation hub to ground our community execution, work force development, creativity, education and entrepreneurship programs.
The Union’s programs and events have fostered community, commerce, creativity, and culture for people of African descent while providing culturally welcoming “space” in downtown Seattle purpose built to propel.
CELEBRATING AN EXPANDED MISSION
Juneteenth 2025 marks PACE's ten-year anniversary and The Union's seven-year anniversary with a special focus on an expanded education, and entrepreneurship programs in addition to a completely remodeled content production and digital archival facility.
Be on the look-out for special announcements as we get closer to Juneteenth!

SPONSORS
PACE, our programs, and partner organizations don't just sponsor our event, they strengthen the foundation of Black economic, artistic, and cultural freedom in Downtown Seattle.
